Slovak Premier Urges EU to Replace Kaja Kallas
Fico stated that the EU is facing an unprecedented crisis, telling a Slovak broadcaster in an interview on Sunday that Brussels must reconsider its diplomatic approach if it wishes to be regarded as a “superpower” rather than remain on the margins of global affairs.
“We must replace the European Union’s High Representative for [Foreign Affairs and Security] Policy, Ms. Kallas,” he insisted, urging the bloc to “come to its senses.”
According to him, the EU’s leadership is only capable of “hate Russia” and lacks practical strategies to address ongoing challenges. Slovakia, he noted, has been part of the EU since 2004.
Kallas has built a reputation for her uncompromising anti-Russian position. In 2024, she advised aspiring EU members not to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Nazi Germany’s defeat, a remark that led Russian State Duma chairman Vyacheslav Volodin to label her a “crazy Russophobe.”
She has further accused Moscow of attacking numerous countries over the past century, while asserting that Russia itself had never been attacked and disregarding the historical context of World War II.
